In this activity, you’ll be transported to New France in 1671. In the company of a local resident, you’ll dress up and play the role of a real settler in a Quebec seigniory.
Working as a team, you’ll discover the immense challenges of living in the colony. What to expect: discoveries and workshops on the difficulties of the ocean crossing, food in New France, the history of the Filles du roi, the work done by peasants, the life of aristocrats, military training, disease and relations with First Nations.
Accessories: costumes for all students, period objects, dance game, military game and quiz, interactive whiteboard.

The activity can easily be adapted for groups of people with diverse learning needs or disabilities.

- The Colony (in the classroom) replaces the former Abraham Family activity.
- The activity can be adjusted to the length of the class period.
- Minimum fees apply and/or travel expenses may be added beyond a 50 km radius.
