Plan & Existing Measures

Several measures have been implemented by the National Battlefields Commission to make the park more accessible and inclusive for all communities, particularly for people with disabilities*. Consult the 2026–2028 Accessibility Plan to learn more.

*Disability: Any impairment, including a physical, mental, intellectual, cognitive, learning, communication or sensory impairment — or a functional limitation — whether permanent, temporary or episodic in nature, or evident or not, that, in interaction with a barrier, hinders a person's full and equal participation in society

Existing Measures

Plains of Abraham Museum

  • The subtitled version of the Battles 1759-1760 screening is available on request.
  • Service and emotional support dogs are accepted upon presentation of an accreditation or medical certificate.
  • Group activities can be adapted to special needs.
  • A free guided assistance service is available for anyone with a disability. Reservation required — for more information, call 418-649-6157 or 1-855-649-6157.

Martello Towers

Built in the early 19th century, the Martello Towers are not wheelchair-accessible but it is possible to take a virtual tour of Martello Tower 1.

Parking

People with a disabled parking sticker can park free of charge in the blue spaces of the Plains of Abraham Museum parking lots, on Montcalm and Wilfrid-Laurier avenues, and in pay-and-display spaces.

Picnic Tables

Tables accessible to people with reduced mobility are available in Des Braves Park, Parc du Musée (near the pétanque courts), near the central pavilion, at the Joan of Arc Garden (east toward Concorde) and behind the Plains of Abraham Museum.

2026-2028

Accessibility Plan

This plan outlines the measures that the National Battlefields Commission intends to implement to improve inclusion and accessibility to the activities and infrastructure of the Plains of Abraham for the 2026–2028 period.
