The Voyageur

At the Plains of Abraham Museum, travel back in time to the fur trade. Let our character tell you about the adventurous life of the voyageurs. Learn how to barter with First Nations and recognize animal tracks and furs. Sing the popular tunes of yesteryear, take a quiz on historical artefacts and learn more about life in New France.

Barter: From the longhouse to the wigwam

This role-playing and trading activity held at the Huron-Wendat Museum allows students to portray members of the Huron-Wendat Nation and Algonquin Peoples in a trading activity. It gives fourth- and fifth-grade students the opportunity to revise their knowledge and acquire new insights into the way of life of 16th-century Iroquoian and Algonquin societies. 

The activity includes a tour of the Huron-Wendat Museum and the national longhouse.

Accessories: theatrical animation, furs and period objects, immersive décor and interactive panel.
