Published on May 28, 2025

Renovation work will be carried out from June to the end of November 2025. It will notably restore the large greenhouse’s original curved-glass shape, which was lost during previous renovations.

The Plains of Abraham greenhouses are among the oldest still in operation in Quebec. Built from 1916 to 1917 based on landscape architect F. G. Todd’s plan for Battlefields Park, they were intended to make the park horticulturally self-sufficient.

Active Greenhouses

Did you know that the Plains of Abraham greenhouses produce nearly 100,000 cuttings and seeds each year? An impressive 95% of the plants planted by the Plains team are grown here!

These plants are used to create the floral designs that embellish the park every year. You can admire them at the Joan of Arc Garden, Cap Diamant, Grey Terrace, Ontario Avenue and the Cross of Sacrifice.

Projects Underway

The restoration work on the greenhouses will bring technical improvements to the buildings’ structure and envelope, ensuring their durability and safety.

The work will be carried out from June to the end of November 2025.

Rest assured that all the necessary measures are in place to limit the impact on the neighbourhood and to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
