Since 1908, the National Battlefields Commission (NBC), an agency of the federal government, has had a mandate to conserve and promote the Battlefields Park. This rallying site par excellence in Québec City includes the Plains of Abraham and Des Braves Park. 

As guardians of this historic urban park and its unique heritage, NBC employees work to make it a welcoming, inspiring, and inclusive space. Many activities (exhibits, special events, commemorative events) are offered to an incredibly diverse clientele from all walks of life.

Job Opportunity

Reporting to the operations coordinator, the seasonal carpenter carries out various carpentry-related tasks. The successful candidate will possess a combination of relevant carpentry training and experience.

Primary Activities

  • Build and install street furniture and various furnishings for our halls and exhibitions
  • Install and repair floor, roof and ceiling structures
  • Maintain, build and repair items made of natural wood
  • Build and assemble wood and metal forms for concrete work
  • Process wood parts and related materials
  • Install various elements to serve the public
  • Use and preventively maintain equipment and tools
  • Design and build templates
  • Read plans
  • Carry out interior and exterior finishing work
  • Make and install furnishings and accessories
  • Choose and recommend materials to be used
  • Perform some day labourer tasks
  • Apply workplace health and safety regulations
  • Work according to the standards and procedures in effect

Employee Profile

  • Recognized training in carpentry and/or cabinetmaking, and a minimum of two years of experience
  • WHMIS training (an asset)
  • Valid class-5 driver’s license
  • Physical ability to lift and move supplies, materials, etc.
  • Work in and outdoors
  • Teamwork, positive attitude, communication skills
  • Creativity, attention to detail
  • Good judgment, independence, resourcefulness, flexibility
  • Careful, safe conduct

Employment Conditions

  • Start date: April 2026
  • Employment period from April to November
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Pay scale of $30.60 to $33.42 per hour
  • Health, dental and pension plans
