Since 1908, the National Battlefields Commission (NBC), an agency of the federal government, has had a mandate to conserve and promote the Battlefields Park. This rallying site par excellence in Québec City includes the Plains of Abraham and Des Braves Park.

Job Opportunity
Reporting to the operations coordinator, the arborist is responsible for the conservation of the site’s impressive trees. The successful candidate will possess a combination of relevant arboriculture training and experience.
Primary Activities
- Trim shrubs and trees, chip branches
- Prune trees from all heights, including on the ground
- Fell trees, cut logs, perform various forestry activities
- Install guy wires
- Inspect, detect and identify insects and diseases, and follow up with appropriate treatments
- Treat trees
- Water and fertilize greenhouse and nursery plants
- Plant shrubs and trees
- Prepare flowerbeds at the beginning/end of the season
- Ensure that tools are in good working order throughout the season
- Carry out pruning and soil amendments for all plants
- Ensure plant protection and irrigation (weekdays and weekends); monitoring
- Apply workplace health and safety regulations
- Work according to the standards and procedures in effect
Employee Profile
- Recognized training in arboriculture and/or pruning, and a minimum of two years of experience
- ARBO certificate in arboriculture (an asset)
- Experience with aerial pruning (with ropes and lifts)
- Experience with chainsaws and wood chippers
- WHMIS training is an asset
- Valid class-5 driver’s license; experience driving a tractor (an asset)
- Physical capacity (loads may exceed 50 pounds)

Employment Conditions
- Start date: April 2026
- Employment period from April to November
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday; may include weekends, as needed
- Pay scale of $28.41 to $30.87 per hour
